A very entertaining game was served up by two sporting sides in Castlemitchell tonight. It was the home side who started brightest and had three points on the board after five minutes, two from Craig Dunphy and one from Johnathon Fennell. All that good work was undone shortly after though as Niall Whelan broke through from midfield for a well taken goal. Fennell then landed another from the left wing before the most 'unusual' score of the game, Goodkeeper Mick Lawless received a pass from a sideline ball on his own 21m line before running the full length of the field and kicking a point with his weaker left foot. Stephen Dovovan(1) and Dunphy (3) pushed the 'Mitchells further ahead but it was Nurney who would finish the half stronger, scoring 3-01 without reply. Centre forward Pat Kelly scored the first two goals followed by 1-01 from Midfielder Brian Reilly leaving the halftime score 0-09 to 4-02. Castlemitchell dominated the second half as they won a huge amount of ball around the middle with the excellent half backs Fionn McDonald and Darragh Moore driving them forward with each attack. Craig Dunphy opened scoring with 1-02 early on as Brian Conway and Niall Whelan scored a point each in reply.. Dunphy replied with two more to bring his total to 1-09 which also gave the 'Mitchells the lead. Joe Maher tagged on an insurance score in the final moments as Castlemitchell ran out 1-15 to 4-04 winners.
