SFL Div 3 Rd 16 Grange v Castlemitchell Sunday 5th at 5pm in Grange ***Note earlier time of 5pm*** Castlemitchell 2-09
Milltown 1-11 Castlemitchell played host to Milltown for this vital SFL Division 3 tie and it was the home side who emerged victorious by the minimum of margins after what was a very entertaining game. Milltown got off to the perfect start when Eoghan O'Toole made a good run down the left before hand passing across goal for John O'Reilly to palm to the net. Mick Lawless came forward to settle the home side with an excellent 45' before Tadhg Fennin added two further points to bring the sides level. Minor player Alan Dignam pushed the visitors back in front with two well taken frees before Myles O'Reilly added another from play. Castlemitchell dominated the remainder of the half however, scoring four in a row as Tadhg Fennin converted two frees from the right before Joe Maher landed a free of his own and a superb individual point from play to leave his side four points to the good at half-time. Milltown with the wind at their backs were much improved after the restart and quickly had three more points on the scoreboard from John O'Reilly, Alan Dignam and Myles O'Reilly. The crucial score on the game came in the 36th minute and it was against the run of play as Tadhg Fennin played a perfect pass to Stephen Donovan who finished sweetly to the top corner. Mark Fennelly followed up with a point before Tadhg Fennin scored his fifth of the match to leave six before the sides. The away side battled back strongly though and scored the final five scores of the match with three points from the impressive Alan Dignam and one each from Ian Fitzgerald and Myles O'Reilly but time just ran out as Castlemitchell hung on for the win and in doing so remain top of this division with four rounds remaining.
