Congratulations to Aoife

The club sends their congratulations to Aoife May who played with the NUI Maynooth team today in the All Ireland final. They played Mary Immaculate , Limerick, for the Giles Cup. Unfortunately Maynooth were beaten by one point. However we are very proud of Aoife's achievement.

Operation Transformation Presentation

Castlemitchell's Operation Transformation held their presentation night in Pat Dunne's Lounge on Sat 24th March. Toni Maher received the Perpetual Cup having lost a staggering 33 pounds. Well done to all who participated and lost a grand total of 25 stone between them. Photos here >

The club was well represented in the Heritage Centre on Friday 23rd March for the presentation of the trophy for the
Best Overall Float in the
St. Patrick's Day Parade.

Operation Transformation Social Night

Castlemitchell GFC are holding a Social Night in Pat Dunne’s on this Saturday night the 24th March at 9.30pm. Music by Tommy Cooper. Presentation of prizes to the people who took part in the Operation Transformation 2012. All are welcome to come a long for a great night. Admission free.

Dowling Cup Champions 2012

Seamus Kelly and John O'Connor lift the Dowling Cup

Congratulations to Castlemitchell who defeated Sarsfields 3-06 to 2-07 to win the Dowling Cup for the second year in a row.
Micky Cluxton Lawless scoring 3-03 was influential in bringing Castlemitchell back into a match which they thought had slipped out of sight when Sarsfields lead by 7 points at one stage. Match Report Here> Photos Here>

Best float in Athy parade

It's official !! Castlemitchell GFC have won the Best Overall Float in the St. Patrick's Day Parade in Athy. Congratulations to all involved. Many thanks to the Athy Promoters Group for ensuring the parade takes place each year and to Ger Kelly who works tirelessly organising the parade and ensures everything runs smoothly on the day. Another trophy for the display cabinet.

Congratulations to all in the club, young and not so young, men, women and especially the children, who represented the club with such pride in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Athy. The excellent float was a credit to all involved and showed Castlemitchell GFC in its true light - a club with sporting, social and family attributes. This years theme was "Making Football Fun" . Once again it was a joy to see the green and white being paraded through the streets of Athy with the trophies won. A big thanks to Declan and Harris Transport for providing the transport to showcase the club and to all involved in decorating the float. Congratulations also to our local Churchtown Pipe Band who had the honour of leading the Athy parade. Click here for photos>
