SFL Div 3 Kilcullen v Castlemitchell

30/7/2015

Kilcullen 0-09
Castlemitchell 2-14

Castlemitchell finished off the league in style with an excellent performance away to Kilcullen on Wednesday evening.
Karol Harris opened the scoring with a well taken goal just two minutes in after after good work from Joe Maher. Brendan Maher, Stevie Donovan, Kieran Harris and Maher added further points moments later.
Paul Bell then opened the home side's account with two frees from close range. Paul Jones and Dylan Kennedy tagged on two further scores from play to narrow the gap.
Donovan pointed quickly after though before Ray Fitzgerald goaled after 25 minutes with a Messi-esque volley after an excellent team move involving Kieran Harris and Emmet Hyland. Harris and Joe Maher added two more points to push their side nine ahead but Paul Bell finished off the first half scoring with another brace of free kicks.
Castlemitchell were dominant in the early stages of the second half with Fionn O'Rourke and Joe Maher pointing but  they should have scored several more were it not for a host of missed chances in front of goal.
Killcullen then hit a purple patch and scored three points in a row from Ross Coughlan, another Bell free and a good score from distance from Darren Barker. It was the 'Mitchells who finished the game stronger however with five points from Karol Harris, Joe Maher, John Fennelly and two more from Donovan. They now move on to the League final where they will play Intermediate side Ballyteague on Monday at 4pm in Hawfield Centre of Excellence.

SFL Div 3 - Castlemitchell v Ballykelly

26/7/2015

Castlemitchell 3-18
Ballykelly 1-06

Castlemitchell secured a place in this year's SFL Division 3 final and promotion to Division 2 with a superior performance against Ballykelly on Saturday evening.
Joe Maher quickly opened the scoring for the home side with a brace of points before Emmet Hyland scored the opening goal with an unstoppable shot from just outside the large parallelogram. Kieran Harris, Steven Donovan and Tadhg Fennin followed up with a point each from play.
John Forde opened his and Ballykelly's account with a free kick after fifteen minutes but it was all Castlemitchell for the rest of the half as they scored six points in a row, three from Tadhg Fennin, two from Joe Maher and one from Steven Donovan. With three minutes left until the break Mark Fennelly made an excellent solo run from midfield before laying off to Ray Fitzgerald who finished to the bottom corner for their second goal. Within a minute Kieran Harris had the ball in the back of the net once again as he squeezed the ball past the Ballykelly Net Minder leaving the half-time score 3-11 to 0-01.
Ballykelly were much improved in the second half but it was Castlemitchell who scored four quick fire points from Tadhg Fennin, Steven Donovan, Kieran Harris and Trevor Griffin. Liam Behan and John Forde answered back with a point each either side of two superb scores from Mark Fennelly and Killian Ward after both were played through by the impressive Oisín Holland-Doyle.
The men in maroon dominated the remainder of the game, scoring points from Jamie Hanley, another free from Forde and a fine score from Emmet Black before corner forward Eoghan Feeney popped up with an excellent individual goal.
Brendan Maher finished off the scoring for the 'Mitchells with a point from distance as his side march on to a league final against Ballyteague.
