Castlemitchell got off to the perfect start as they goaled twice within the first five minutes. The first came as Joe Maher was allowed to travel too far into the Kilcullen defence, he passed off to Emmet Hyland who powerfully shot from close range giving Andrew Talt no chance in goals. Karol Harris added the second moments later as he collected a high ball from Trevor Griffin before rounding the 'keeper and finishing to an empty net.
Kilcullen, who fielded a very young side due to injuries, replied with points from Paul Jones (2) and Jamie Lambe to keep the visitors in touch but Tadhg Fennin, Mark Fennelly and Kieran Harris responded with a point each to leave the half-time score 2-03 to 0-03.
With a strong wind at their backs, Castlemitchell pushed on in the second half, outscoring their opponents 0-14 to 0-01. Steven Donovon stood out in the half as he landed four points from play but it was Karol Harris who opened their second half account after a good pass from Tadhg Fennin. Trevor Griffin added another at his second attempt after a great save from Talt initally. Further points followed from Mark Fennelly, Kieran Harris, Tadhg Fennin and Brendan Maher before Karol Harris scored his second of the game. Trevor Griffin and Ray Fitzgerald tagged on two final scores as their side ran out convincing winners which moves them up to third position at the halfway point in the the SFL Division 3. Their next game see them welcome table toppers Ballyteague on Wednesday night at 7:45.
