Castlemitchell U 11’s welcomed Athy for their first game in phase 1 of go games. Playing with the advantage of a strong wind Athy started very well by scoring the first 3 points of the match Castlemitchell soon settled and bounced back with the next 3 pts. The remainder of the half was nip and tuck with Castlemitchell edging ahead on a scoreline of 0-8 to 0-5 at HT. Castlemitchell started the second half strongly and taking advantage of the wind scored the first 3 scores of the second half. Athy came back with a goal and a point. Through good tacking and applying pressure the castlemitchell boys got on top and put enough scores on the board to see the game out. Well done to Athy and Castlemitchell on an excellent game of football.

Castlemitchell made the long trip to Cappagh last night for  the u14s championship. Against a bigger and stronger team Castlemitchell battled  to finish on a score of Cappgh 4-13 Castlemitchell 2-11. Castlemitchell were finding it hard to contain the strong running and movement from the Cappagh midfield and forwards who were scoring some fine long range points. A goal from Lorcan Ward gave Castlemitchell belief that they could get a result and kept going against the wind.Cappagh with a strong lead at halftime kept the Castlemitchell backs under pressure and with some great saves from Darragh Ashton in goals .Castlemitchell fought back and with a goal from James Harris and a late surge of pressure from Castlemitchell to score some points  Cappagh were on pressure to the final whistle.

 Castlemitchell travelled to St Kevins this morning  for the second round of the division 5 championship .On a big pitch there was plenty of movement from both teams in an open free flowing game.Castlemitchell started brightly in the first half with scores from A Doyle,W Roycroft,R Harris and D Ashton  Castlemitchell went in at half time on a score of 6-4 to 1-3.Castlemitchell were defending well with all backs playing their part in keeping St Kevins at bay. In the second half Castlemitchell continued to play well but were finding it harder against the breeze to score and with the defence and midfield working hard it finished on a score of 9-6 to 1-5.

Castlemitchell and Miltown produced a great game of football today in the division 1 final today with Miltown winning on a scoreline of 3-9 to 1-8.Miltown started brighter with  2 points before Castlemitchell scored there first point. In a first half with little between the 2 teams with Miltown scoring there points before Castlemitchell scored there goal by James Corcoran. Castlemitchell had plenty of scoring chances but found the crossbar and were finding it hard to get the ball over the bar.At halftime it was 1-3 to 0-6. Castlemitchell started better in the second half with the first score but Miltown came battling back and scored 3 goals to win.

Castlemitchell hosted Sarsfields for the semifinal of division 1 last night in a pulsating game of football. On a beautiful summer's evening  both teams started brightly playing the ball into the forwards. Castlemitchell opened the scoring with a point from Jasmes Harris only for Sarsfields to return with some of there own points. In the frst half there was nothing in between both teams with both scoring 1 goal each in the first half with Castlemitchell's Jack McCabe replying after Sarsfields  scored there goals. James Corcoran was unlucky after a beautiful move to strike the crossbar .With Sarsfields playing direct into the full forward line Castlemitchell were finding it difficult but with moving Ross Harris into full back Castlemitchell never looked back. At half time score was Castlemitchel, 1-9 to Sarsfields 1-8. Castlemitchell came out in the second half a different team and with goals from Oisin Flynn,Jack McCabe ,James Corcoran and Sean Maloney Sarsfields were finding it difficult to advance and with Castlemitchell's defence holding out the sarsfields forwards to 1-3 for the second half Castlemitchell advanced on a score of 6-15 to 2-11 to play Miltown on Sunday morning iin Hawkfield at 10am.

Castlemitchell hosted Grange last night in the semi final of feile D  .In an extremely tight game it went to the final whistle with Grange shading by a point on a score of 1-7 to 1-6 and will go into the final against Elistown next week.Grange started quickly and were moving the ball into there forwards to put some scores on the board but this young team of Castlemitchell kept fighting to win the ball and put pressure on the Grange defence.  Grange  scored a goal from a penelty in the first half to put the score at halftime of  1-3 to 02. Castlemitchell came out in the second half a different team an started to move the ball swiftly to get within Grange and levelled the score right at the end only for Grange to score a point to win by a point.
