After 20 years as referee coordinator and member of various County Board committees Mick Fennin has taken a well deserved break. He was honoured for his contribution last night at the County Convention by Chairman Ger Donnelly. We wish Mick and family the very best.
Castlemitchell had another enjoyable visit to Hawkfield with the Under 15 team victorious over Kilcullen in the League final. Both teams have to be commended for their outstanding display of football in very windy wintery conditions and treated the spectators to a nine goal feast. Congratulations to the team and their coaches Micheál Kelly and Tom Harris. Congratulations to our Under 13 team who had a fantastic victory over Kilcullen yesterday in the Under 13 League final played in Hawkfield. Loosing by 7 points at one stage the young 'Mitchells never gave up and ran out convincing winners on a score line of 7- 09 to 5-07. The club wishes Bryan a very speedy recovery following his knee injury during the match. Our annual €10 members draw takes place in Pat Dunne's Lounge on Saturday 14th December 2019 at 10pm. €3000 in prizes. Tickets are available from any committee member. Music on the night. Come to the Clanard Court Hotel this Saturday 16th November at 8:30pm to help us celebrate 80 years of Castlemitchell GFC and Celebrate 10 years since the Ladies' team won the Junior championship and reached the Leinster final. Presentations to the Players of the Year will also take place. Finger food and DJ Spuddy Dazzler. Tickets just €15. Congratulations to our Under 14 team on a great victory over St. Laurence's in the Kildare Féile na nÓg Football Final yesterday in St. Conleth's park. The team now go on to the National finals where they will be hosted by Clifden GAA club on the weekend of 28th to 30th June 2019. We wish them and their coaches the best of luck and look forward to meeting all involved in the GAA in Clifden. In order that all our coaches have up to date skills, Castlemitchell GFC in conjunction with Kildare GAA will provide a coaching course on 21st and 28th Feb 2019 from 7 to 9pm both nights in our indoor Astro Park. Participants have to complete a short online course before these practical sessions. Contact Fiona Foley for further details. The next and final Safeguarding 1 course which is mandatory for all our coaches will be held in the clubhouse on Tuesday 19th Feb 2019 at 7pm. Please contact Ger Maher for further details.
