The sun shone on Castlemitchell on Saturday as the club celebrated in style their 75th anniversary. The day started with over 100 underage players playing exhibition matches. Special guest Liam O'Neill GAA President having mingled and spoken with everyone officially opened the new spectator stand, launched the 5 year Strategic Plan, acknowledged the victorious Castlemitchell teams down through the years by presenting a representative of each team with a commemorative medal and then turned the sod on the new training hall which the club has just been allocated €90,000 in the Sports Capital Programme. The celebrations continued in the Clanard Court Hotel with one of the largest attended Dinner Dances. Special guest Ger Donnelly, Co. Board Vice Chairman, presented the Player of the year awards to the Ladies and men teams. Recipients were Men - Senior: Joe Maher, Junior: Craig Dunphy, Young: Killian Ward. Ladies - Senior: Ruth Kaiser, Young: Laoise Langton and Niamh Mulhall. Congratulations to all. The club wishes to thank everyone for attending in such large numbers during the day and at the Dinner Dance, and to all involved in making this historic occasion such a huge success. Míle Buiochas.
