After all the talking was done the schools senior team took to the field to display their skills in a game of football for all to see.

On a beautiful day last Thursday, Churchtown National School had an opening day for the goalposts and nets supplied by Castlemitchell GFC. There was alot of people in attendance including Father Tim Hannon, Richard Daly ,Councillor Mark Wall, committee members of Castlemitchell and parents and coaches. Breda Fitzpatrick thanked everybody for coming, for the support Castlemitchell gives to Churchtown all down through the years, for the beautiful goalposts and nets and for helping with the coaching in the school. Richard Daly thanked the club and talked about the community and facilities within the community. Father Tannon said prayers and blessed the goalposts. Mark Wall and Mick Fennin talked about Churchtown school football down tthrough the years where we went from getting a team, then scoring our first score to eventually winning a game and then a compettition. Mick talked about all the county players that have emerged from first playing with Churchtown. Some of the senior players thanked Castlemitchell and their coaches for helping them improve their football skills. David Fennin thanked everyone that helped to put the goalposts up .
