Fionn McDonald Memorial Tournament

We'd like to say a big thank you to all who helped make yesterday's Fionn McDonald Memorial Match possible. Thanks to referee Fran Bolger who gave of his time voluntarily and also became a soccer referee in the space of five minutes due to the weather, John Wall who did MC for the day, To Laois Hire who sponsored heaters for the hall, To all the volunteers who did food and tea for everyone, To everyone who helped from early morning to change from outdoor plans to an indoor competition, To all who came to support the teams and the event, To all the players and teams who came to take part, St. Joseph's, Barrowhouse, Slieve Margy, Athy Rugby Club, our own lads and indeed some of Fionn's friends from other areas who asked to take part. 
Thanks also to Fionn's family and friends for their support and help organising and throughout the day.
Lastly I'm sure I'm missing people so thanks to everyone else who did their part. Already the talk is of what next year's event might entail. It was all hands on deck but that's what it's all about.

Results were as follows
Match 1 was Castlemitchell 1 vs St. Josephs which ended 5-5 
Match 2 was Castlemitchell 2 vs Slieve Margy/Barrowhouse ended 2-2. 
Penalty shoot outs followed with St. Josephs and Slieve Margy/Barrowhouse winning and going on to the final.
The tournament was won by St. Josephs on a score line of 2-1.
Fittingly it was Fionn's brother Lir, St. Joseph's Captain on the day, who lifted in winning cup.
