On Monday it was on to Croke Park for the Gaelic for Girls when two young girls teams from the club lived out every young girls dream by playing on the famous Croke Park pitch. This turned into a memorable day where the girls and their mentors and supporters got to enjoy the best sports stadium in the world with a great gift pack at the end of the day. There are some fine pictures on our facebook page at Castle Mitchell , well worth a visit. well done to all involved, a historic day for the club and a bright future for our underage ladies section.
Tuesday night saw our u10 team take on a fine Moorefield selection, in the first of two underage matches between the clubs. At this level it was the young Mitchells who came out on top, behind at half time , a spirited second half display saw the green and white emerge with a great win.
Thursday night saw the two clubs compete again in a fine game of u12 football. This was a great advertisement for Division 1 football in the county as the strong and skilful Moorefield team took on a young ,determined and very skilful home side.
Level at half time , the home side just ran out of energy on a warm night as the Newbridge outfit took the match by 4 points. Well done to Moorefield , a fine team and we hope their player injured on the night recovers in the quickest possible time. For the home side it was a fine performance with some outstanding defending and great moves from the goalkeeper to the corner forward. The Mitchell team on the night was Ricky Nolan, Kyle Byrne, Jack Nolan, Stephen Flynn, Leanne Kelly Devereux, Fallou Sangre, Chris Chanders, Cillian Roycroft, Jamie Griffin, Cian Byrne, Shane Fitzpatrick, Ja Kelly Devereux, Jordan Hickey, Eddie Roycroft and Callum Donnelly.
