Castlemitchell u10s boys and girls enjoyed a very successful and entertaining day out in Newbridge last Saturday at the junior county final between Castlemitchell and Straffan. They played three games with a mixture of boys and girls and the standard of football on display was very good. Thanks to everyone that helped out on the day.
Last night the boys enjoyed a training session with the senior team on the last training session before the county final on Saturday in Newbridge. On behalf of the coaches and the boys we would like thank the lads for giving up their timeand to wish the senior team the best of luck and hope they picked up a few tips from the younger players.
COME ON THE MITCHELLS Castlemitchell u9s produced another impressive display as they defeated Miltown at home. From they start they attacked the miltown goal with desire and the backs continued to defend with marvellous blocking skills and tight marking . Miltown never gave up and continued to battle and scored some very good points also. Thanks to Miltown for a very good game. It finished on a score of Athgarvan 0-8,Castlemitchell 4-13. Castlemitchell started brightly and raced into a commanding lead which they never gave up. In goals Daragh Ashton was distributing the ball out to his backs with perfection and with swift movement of the ball down to the forwards to score with determination. The backs were positive in there tackling and midfield helping both backs and forwards. Well done lads you were a credit to yourselves and your team . Well done to Athgarvan for a sporting game.

On a sunny Sunday morning in Castlemitchell our u13 team continued their unbeaten run in their league with a fine 4-12 to 2-9 victory over a talented Athgarvan side .
Indeed it was the team from the edge of the Curragh that started better in this tie taking some fine points with the wind at their backs and they raced into a 5 point lead but a great team goal by the young Mitchell' s got the momentum going and by half time they were 3 points up. A powerful second half performance especially in the last 15 minutes saw these young lads remain unbeaten into their final league match of the following Sunday. The Castlemitchell team on the day was Cian Byrne, Kyle Byrne , Jack Nolan, Ja Kelly, Fallou Sangre, Chris Chanders, Cillian Roycroft (Capt.), Larry Adisa , Jordan Hickey, Eamon Kelly, Cathal Wall, Stephen Nolan, Eddie Roycroft and Adam Fanning Castlemitchell u11s defeated Miltown last night in an excellent game from both sides. This was a very free flowing fast movement end to end game with the score finished at Castlemitchell 28 scores Miltown 24 scores. Castlemitchell lead going into the second half after scoring some good scores but Miltown came out in the second half to reply with scores to make it a nervous finish to hold out. Well done to both teams for an excellent game. We were invited down to play against clubs from Carlow ,Laois,Wexford and Kildare. Both teams played three games each. A big thank you to Carlow Gaa for inviting us down to this great event. The u10s won all three games against Michael Davitts of Carlow,Eire óg of Carlow and Mount Leinster Rangers from Carlow.This team played with great maturity to move the ball forward and score some beautiful scores and defended bravely. The under 8s also won all three games with displays against Michael Davitts of Carlow,Bunclody of Wexford and St James. This team also are developing into a very good team and worked hard for each other.Team on the day was DJ Fennin ,J Fennin,J McCabe,E Doogue,O Groarke,L Haughton,Z O Donnell,D Hyland,B Byrne,T O Donnell,C O Rourke,T Dooley and R Doogue. Castlemitchell u11s were beaten by Kilcullen on a score of Kilcullen 39 scores Castlemitchell 34 scores. Kilcullen playing the better football in the first half went into a convincing lead of 29 scores to Castlemitchells's 12. In the second half and producing the better football and some good scores they fought back to narrowly loose with Kilcullen finishing strong near the end. On a warm Sunday morning in Castledermot, Castlemitchell u13's recorded their second win from two games with a one point victory over the home side . The first half saw both sides take some fine scores with a goal from the home side keeping them in touch with the Young Mitchells . The second half saw the green and white move ahead and lead by 7 points with just minutes to go. The last few minutes was close as Castledermot got two late goals to narrow the margin but the Mitchells held out for a deserved victory . Last night our u9s team topped Division 1 with an excellent win over Sarsfields on a score of Castlemitchell 17 scores to Sarsfields 11 scores. This was a lively game throughout with both teams producing great scores and defending of the highest order was seen tonight with blocking and tight marking seen all over. Castlemitchell went in at half time leading by 2 points a lead which they never gave up to the end. Well done to both teams.
