In a very busy week for the underage section of the club , matches began on Friday night last when our u7 mixed team and u10 ladies team visited the excellent facilities of Ballykelly GFC.Two great matches were played out with some great displays of skill. Thank you very much to Ballykelly for hosting the matches and all their hospitality.
Saturday saw our u13 warm up for their forthcoming league with a blitz match against a fine Rathangan team, the young Mitchells played well on the day and will continue their preparation in the coming week for their league, where matches will take place on Sunday Mornings.
Tuesday night saw Division 1 u9 action as our u9 team continued their league with a home match to Sarsfield. Playing a bigger team the green and white kept playing some stylish football, at all times looking for their team mates. However it was to be Sarsfield night but this team again showed huge potential , always looking for the right pass , supporting one another and looking forward to their next match. Best of luck to Sarsfield for the rest of the season.
Thursday night saw the Mitchell's continue their u11 Division 1 league with a match away on the road to Moorefield.
This was a terrific performance by this talented side . In the first half
This young side exchanged scores with the home side and it was a well taken goal that gave them a three point lead. The second half saw some great combination play from the Mitchell's moving the ball from defence to attack and taking some fine scores including two further goals. At the final whistle Castlemitchell recorded a fine victory after a fine display. Well done to Moorefield and the best of luck to them for the rest of the year.
Training continues for all teams from u6 to u15 at the moment with matches for all teams , girls and boys. If you want to join the club , please contact any committee member or call out and check out our teams.

Our under 9s defeated Castledermot last night with a scoreline of 18 scores to 13 in Castledermot . It was a tight game with some excellent scores and both teams shown excellent skills in blocking and tackling.Castlemitchell finished stronger with some late point scoring in the last quarter to finish out winners on the night. Well done to both teams for an excellent and exciting match. Our under 9s were beaten by a very strong Sarsfield team tonight in Castlemitchell in strong windy conditions. Against the breeze in first half Sarsfield pulled ahead with some fine scores and we found it hard to pull it back. Our under  9s secuered a win tonight in division 1 against Moorefield in Moorefield . In an action packed game of defensive tacking and blocking  and quick movement of the ball to our forwards they won on a scoreline of 11 to 5. They started off  brightly in the first half and went in leading at 7 scores  to 4 .Moorefield came out attacking in the second half  but with all backs and goalkeeper Daragh Ashton keeping them at bay and our forwards scoring when on the attack there was no looking back on this fine win. Team on the night was Daragh Ashton,Mark Kelly,Kyle Sheehan,Oisin Fennin,Conor Lamon,James Harris,Ross Harris,Oisin Flynn,Luke Maher,Andrew Doyle,John Dooley and Robbie Roycroft.  Next week we play Sarsfields at home on tuesday night at 7pm.
