Castlemitchell u8's played a friendly game with Castledermot yesterday in Castlemitchell. It was a windy day but the effort and scoring on display was marvellous as these group of kids never gave up. On a warm Friday night in Hawkfield, Newbridge, Castlemitchell u13's completed a great year with a two point victory over a talented Athgarvan side to become County champions.
This was a fabulous game of football, a great spectacle , enjoyed by a large attendance. Athgarvan enjoyed great early possession and took an early lead but the young Mitchells put their head down to go into half time one point up. The second half was a heart stopping affair for the large Castlemitchell crowd as Athgarvan raced into a lead which the Mitchells tried to pull back. The last 10 minutes had everything you would want in a football match , great skill , near misses and all the players giving of their very best. But their is something very special about this team, they never give up and when the final whistle went it was the Young Mitchells who had got the scores for Captain Cillian Roycroft to lift the cup on another special night for the club. The team on the night was Cian Byrne, Kyle Byrne, Jack Nolan, Lorcan Ward,Stephen Flynn, Fallou Sangre, Chris Chanders, Cillian Roycroft, Larry Adisa, Jordan Hickey, Jamie Griffin, Ja Kelly Devereux, Cathal Wall , Eddie Roycroft, Adam Fanning, Uyi Oribor , Stephen Nolan, Eamon Kelly and Jack King. Castlemitchell u10s and u8s were invited down to celebrate 125 years of Castledermot GAA. On a nice sunny Saturday with Kildare's manager Jason Ryan down to help participate with the celebrations there was two good football matches on show. U10s team D Ashton ,L Maher,M Kelly, O Fennin,J Dooley,J Harris,S Adise,J Corcoran,R Harris,A Doyle and E Lawless. U8s team L O Neil,O Groarke,D Hyland,J Fennin,DJ Fennin,B Byrne,Z O Donnell,J Perse,E Doogue,T Dooley,C O Rourke. Thanks to Castledermot for inviting us and hope they celebrate another 125 years   On Wednesday 8th October Castlemitchell u13's qualified for thier county final with a great win over a fine Naas side. Castlemitchell started very brightly in this match and were 9 points up in the first ten minutes playing some great football. The young Mitchells played together as a team throughout this match and try as they might , Naas could not get back into the match. In the end the green and white were comprehensive winners on a scoreline of 3-17 to 2-6. We wish them the very best in the county final tomorrow Friday night at 7pm in Hawkfiekd.
