In a game where it was point for point our lads battled hard and defended brilliantly. Our U9s travelled to Suncroft on Tuesday evening to come home with a fine win with a score of 7 to 3. On a cool evening in Suncroft there was fine scoring. Going back to play neighbours Athy on Thursday night at u11 level the Young Mitchell's recorded a fine victory over a very good Athy side. It was a very fine defensive performance in the first half as the green and white blocked and hurried their opponents, defending in numbers in a fine performance, unlucky with some fine attempts at scores the lads and girls found themselves down at half time.
However displaying a great attitude and no little determination in the second half the Young Mitchells powered up the field taking some excellent scores while still keeping up to their defensive duties. When the final whistle blew it was joy for the green and white in another excellent game of football where the future for both clubs looks very bright. Well done to all involved with a Castlemitchell side who put on a fine display from a talented team and the club would like to wish Athy the very best for 2013. The new stand provided great shelter against the elements as the ladies took centre stage on the main pitch in a fine game against Castledermot. There were some great action on show by both sides as the skills of Ladies football was the definite winner on the night. Well done to Castledermot on their performance and to our own young Mitchell ladies who performed so well on the night ensuring a bright future for the Ladies teams within the club. Over on the second pitch the lads were putting on a fine display of football against a fine Moorefield team. The young Mitchells took control early and were 8 points up in the first ten minutes. They continued to build on that score and when the referee blew his whistle for half time, the green and whites were ahead on a score line of 4-5 to 0-2. The second half was a tighter affair , Moorefield getting an early goal to give them hope but the home side using their bench , settled into the match again and took some fine scores. Moorefield continued to attack but at the final whistle it was another good night for the club with a comprehensive win on a scoreline of 7-8 to 2-3. ON Thursday night last two Castlemitchell u12 teams travelled to St Laurence's to take on the home side in two fine games of Southboard football. Both Mitchell teams played some excellent football with the green team having an excellent win with some very good scoring and the white team playing their hearts out in a very close match. well done to all and the best of luck to St Laurence's for the rest of the year.
On Tuesday night our two teams travelled to neighbours Athy to compete in two fine matches. On pitch number 1 the Young Mitchell's were up against a fine Athy team who playing with the aid of a big wind built up a 7 point half time lead. The second half saw the Young Mitchells combine great football with the wind to claw back the Athy lads but with time running the lads and ladies in green and white could not get the 1 score they needed to level what was a fine match watched by a very appreciative crowd. Over on the 2nd pitch the Young Mitchells took control of the game early and put on a fine display of combination football with backs on top and forwards taking some excellent scores. when the referee blew the whistle the Young Mitchells found themselves well in front after a fine nights football. Well done to Athy for hosting two fine matches and the best of luck to them for the rest of the season.
