On a warm Friday night in Hawkfield, Newbridge, Castlemitchell u13's completed a great year with a two point victory over a talented Athgarvan side to become County champions.
This was a fabulous game of football, a great spectacle , enjoyed by a large attendance. Athgarvan enjoyed great early possession and took an early lead but the young Mitchells put their head down to go into half time one point up.
The second half was a heart stopping affair for the large Castlemitchell crowd as Athgarvan raced into a lead which the Mitchells tried to pull back. The last 10 minutes had everything you would want in a football match , great skill , near misses and all the players giving of their very best. But their is something very special about this team, they never give up and when the final whistle went it was the Young Mitchells who had got the scores for Captain Cillian Roycroft to lift the cup on another special night for the club.
