Castlemitchell u14's loose County final by 1 point
It was heartbreak in Hawkfield for Castlemitchell u14's on Wednesday night last as they lost out in their county final by the minimum margin. In what was described as a great game of football by the very large attendance, the Green and White were slow to start and quickly fell behind to their opponents, Newtown Gaels. But if we know anything about this team its that they are fighters and never give up and despite being 10 points down with 5 minutes left in the first half , two fine goals brought the margin to just 4 points at half time.
The second half was heart stopping stuff, Castlemitchell quickly reduced the margin and got back on level terms with a great goal and point . Both sides then exchanged points and with 3 minutes to go the sides were level . Castlemitchell brought the game to their opponents and came very close to getting that lead . But in a rare attack in the second half Newtown Gaels earned a free to take the lead as the match entered injury time. The resulting kick out brought the match to an end with all stating that no team deserved to loose, but on this occasion it was Newtown Gaels who were on the right side of a one point victory.
The team on the day was:Cian Byrne, Kyle Byrne, Jack Nolan, Jack King , Stephen Flynn, Chris Chanders, Fallou Sangare , Cillian Roycroft, Joshua Folaweo , Harrison Okeke, Jamie Griffin , Jordan Hickey, Ja Kelly Devereux, Cathal Wall, Eddie Roycroft, Adam Fanning, Lorcan Ward, Stephen Nolan, Larry Adisa , Eamon Kelly.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery to Eddie Roycroft who picked up an injury during our Feile weekend but still played a major part in our u14 final . Great to see Eamon Kelly back with the lads and hopefully back on the pitch soon.
