In an exciting game of football in Castlemitchell on Thursday 4th April, the home side emerged winners on a scoreline of 3-9 to 4-4 for Raheens. This was a tremendous performance by the young Mitchells on their first occasion to play u12 Division 1 football, they opened brightly and took some great early scores with some well worked goals from Jamie Griffin, Cathal Wall and Ja Deveraux Kelly, but just as eye catching were the well worked points with some great passing movements resulting in some fine scores. In fairness to Raheens they battled back late in the half to rattle in three goals if their own to leave just 3 points between the teams at the end of the half. The second half began well for the Mitchells with a fine point from Jamie Griffin, however with the wind Raheens took control for a time and took another goal and a point to level the match. It was now time for Castlemitchell to dig in and they did just that led by captain Eddie Roycroft and his midfield partner Eoin Farrell, it was end to end stuff with both teams giving their all, but when referee Kieran Harris blew full time and the crowd drew their breath, there were two points between the teams with the proud young Mitchells on the winning side , both teams lined up at half way and to the generous applause of those present they shook hand at the end of a great game. Scores on the night were Jamie Grifin 1-3, Ja Deveraux Kelly 1-0 and Cathal Wall1-0, Eddie Roycroft 0-3, Eoin Farrell 0-1, CianBoylan 0-1 and Shane Fitzpatrick 0-1 . Others to play well on the night were two excellent goalies , Jack Brennan , Adam O Sullivan in second half, a very good full back line in Amy O'Shea , Jack Nolan and Leanne Deveraux Kelly, a fine display by the half backs in Stephen Flynn, Fallou Sangre and Chris Chanders and all round forward play from Jordan Hickey, Jack Howard, Tomi Adamsi , Jordan Byrne and Larry Adisa
