Playing a very talented Ardclough side ,the young Mitchells were behind and fighting a rear guard from early in the day. As the ref blew the half time whistle there was a mountain to climb. However in a very spirited second half performance the lads put it up to Ardclough as their own mentor said after the game giving them a fierce shock in a game that they had totally dominated up to then. Some great football resulted in a goal and some points but heartbreak resulted in the last number of minutes as Ardclough scored three late goals as the Castlemitchell defence, so good on the day, just could not hold out any longer. In the aftermath speeches, Castlemitchell congratulated Ardclough on their much deserved victory but after initial disappointment in the Mithchells dressing room, there was joy that this was the start of what could be a great year for this team. It would be hard to pick or single out any player from the team on the day safe to say everybody gave of their best in the green and white cause.
The u/14 team on the day was Corey Brennan, Robert Lovett, Jamie Kirwin, Oisin Boylan, Alex Buttiage, Darragh Moore,Dylan Roycroft Aaron Buckley, Oisin Doyle (Captain), Conor Curtis, Tyler Perse, Bobby Joe BrennanAaron Nolan,,James Mulhall ,James Byrne, Dylan Brennan, Jack Nolan, Fuad Adisa and Josh McGuckian.
