matches against Athy GFC. This was a great advertisement for football, great skills on display and both sets of coaches encouraging each side in the skills of Gaelic football. At the end of the day each of the 4 teams from both clubs
lined up to shake lads, happy to have played their part for their club and for all those present it was a most enjoyable encounter. Best of luck to Athy for the rest of the season.
On Tuesday night it was the turn of the u/10 teams as 25 young children got on the bus or travelled with their
parents to Moorefield. Unfortunately the green team had to play their match in Ballymany School with the white team travelling on to the fine club grounds in Moorefield on the edge of the Currragh.
In a very highly skilled match the Castlemitchell white team put it up to the home side with some fine taking goals
and points, for those watching this team it was a great sight with some fine combination football from defence to attack. In finishing the display in the second half the young Mitchell’s proved that they can play Division 1 football
on a fine night for the club on the plains of the curragh. Down in Ballymany the Castlemitchell second team
proved that this was to be a night to remember for the club as they matched their bigger Moorefield opponents in every aspect of the game. The green Mitchells team played their hearts out and in doing so took some fine scores and
gave the large crowd following them plenty to be happy about. The club send best wishes to Moorefield for the rest of the
season.
Wednesday night saw the young Mitchells u/13 travel to Naas to take on the home side. With 22 players togged
out this was a much anticipated match. However all did not go the way of the boys in the first half and they found themselves down to a talented home side. With some changes at half time, the lads started like a train scoring 1-3
without reply which had the home side rushing for answers. But the effort of the first 15 minutes of the half could not be maintained and the stronger Naas lads added a number of scores to run out winners in the end. However this result
still ensures a semi-final for this team and we wish them the very best in that match. Best of luck to Naas GAA as
well.
